June 17-19: Moochdocking in Clarksville, TN
Totally by chance before heading to Bonnaroo, I ended up boarding Lincoln in the same city as some family! They saw my FB post and invited us to come over after the festival to visit. They were super gracious in letting me use the washing machine to do laundry, and we went out for dinner at this really nice alehouse, Upstairs at Strawberry Alley in downtown Clarksville.
Also, Lincoln made new friends! Kind of He would not relax for anything! Just way too hyper between wanting to play and getting aggressive. Their poor pups were like, wtf is wrong with you?! Really hope that being out and about and meeting more pups help him with his socialization, cause man, he was so stressful! They did have a few good moments though..barking out of the window was a favorite shared activity!!

June 20: Superman!!!
Whitehaven Welcome Center | Paducah, KY
I was a bit nervous to stay at this rest area for the night, mainly because it looked so pretty, I wasn’t sure if it was an actual place to be able to stay that long. To add to my anxiety, once it became dark, I was the only person in the lot. But I have a personal rule not to drive at night so…whatever happens, happens! Nothing happened. In the morning, I went inside to check it out, and saw a brochure for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. I was soo tempted, but also was trying to escape the heatwave so, will def have to come back for that sometime.
Superman’s Hometown | Metropolis, IL
The fam told me the Worlds Largest Superman statue was on my route out, and so of course I had to stop and check it out! I pulled into a pretty nice parking area with bathrooms right next to the Super Musuem lined with flowers.. I wish I took a pic! There were ladies there watering and tending to the flowers. They let me know the lot was new and maintained by volunteers. Just had to give them a shout out, cause they were so friendly and I really do appreciate the work they were doing there 🥰
After making some lunch, I took Lincoln for a walk around the neighborhood, which is super cute and quaint, and full of Superman references and landmarks everywhere! We first went to see a chunk of Kryptonite. Its said visitors who touch it will be benefit from friendship and good luck. I did not touch it…it looked a bit sus lol
We then made our way to the Worlds Largest Superman Statue…hes pretty darned big and impressive at 3 tons and 15′ feet tall. Ironically, he’s made of bronze, not steel. The first statue they had was 7′ tall, made of fiberglass, and the people in town hated it…it kept getting shot up to mock its “Man of Steel” status. So they chose bronze to make sure he’s bullet proof. Go figure!
It was insanely hot, and Lincoln was wiped so got him back to the van, and then went to check out the Super Museum. Stepped into the gift shop, and it was so incredible I didn’t realize it wasn’t itself the museum till I got to the back and saw the actual entrance. I didn’t want to leave Lincoln alone for long in this heat, so I just snagged myself a pin and went on my way. I anyway need to come back sometime, cause I missed seeing the Louis Lane statue!
