Upgraded Stovetop Cover

So embarrassing to admit, but here goes! My very first night in my van, I broke my stove top cover! After making soup I accidentally did not turn the flame all the way off, and then soon after closed the lid. As soon as I sat down, there was a huge explosion… glass everywhere! Major shock turned to being really upset with myself for making that kind of mistake. One I will for sure never make again!

I went to a Roadtrek community I’m in to get some advice and ideas. I was hesitant about getting another glass top, but wasn’t sure what to do. They were so amazing, instead of making me feel worse, they were super empathetic and shared amazing suggestions, from stock replacements, to alternatives like a cutting board, and so much more.

Someone found an Etsy shop with an amazing stainless steel cover. I touched bases with the seller to confirm measurements, and ordered it right away. It’s so pretty, and goes so well with the stainless steel backsplash….Happy Little Accident! Its thinner than the glass so I need to stabilize the screws somehow.

I also found heat resistant silicon mats which I trimmed to size to both protect the covers (the sink cover is still a glass one) and to also create a smooth countertop surface. I really love how everything turned out!
